Our Founder and Executive Director Kenneth Thompson has been servicing the community for over 30 years. He began as a volunteer basketball coach at his childhood elementary school and it grew to become the Gussie Wortham Foundation which was founded in 2004 in Hartford, CT. Gussie Wortham was Mr. Thompson’s oldest sister who was killed by her estranged husband in 1981. Mr. Thompson wanted to help our youth do something productive so he began mentoring, coaching, advocating, and teaching. Over the years, The Foundation has held an annual basketball tournament ”The B-Ball Classic“or ‘The Gussie’ as many refer to it has been a fixture in the CT basketball community for nearly 20 years. Since moving South, Mr. Thompson has continued giving back to the community.
When asked what Impact without Limits means to him he said, “Impact without Limits to me is a way to change the climate in the world today. It’s the opportunity to give without limitations, expectations, or instant gratification. Impact without Limits is taking the time to mentor, tutor, coach, and donate freely without being prompted. Impact without Limits to me means being able to sleep at night, knowing you did something for the betterment of your family, community, and the world!”
